Lake Size / Angling Pressure The larger the lake the higher the chance of being away from any feeding fish. This is a fact, and it means that regardless of your ability, there is a much higher chance of suffering a blank week. Having experienced this several times myself whilst on carp fishing trips to France, and having felt the disappointment after spending all the time, money and effort of coming to France, I now have to say that if you want to catch some carp in France, smaller waters offer a better chance, especially so if you have the lake to yourselves ! Because our lakes are only booked on an exclusive basis, and because our prices allow for small party bookings there are many weeks where there is only one angler fishing, and long periods when no-one fishes at night, thus the fish are not under continual pressure. We don't advertise in the UK carp fishing press, a cost which we would have to pass on to our customers, so we can keep our prices affordable. At our lakes, you will never be too far from the fish,and if you fish well you will have a very good chance of an excellent week's fishing ! Management Les Croix is one of a very few carp lakes in France managed by a UK qualified fisheries professional with many years experience in the National Rivers Authority and Environment Agency. We also take advice from a local French consultant. The venue is correctly stocked and managed, thus you will be fishing more than just another French Carp Lake. The Carp Our carp are exceptional fish and have been hand picked from the stocks of a French family run fish farming business, in an area of France renowned for the stunning appearance and strength of the carp. Several of the carp gained 9lbs in weight in the first 6 months after stocking, and most of the carp have put on 10lbs in the first year ! The lake is spring fed with superb high quality water and thus has an abundance of natural food for the carp including a lot of bloodworm, caddis larvae and snails, and they also receive extra nourishment from the protein in the pellets that we feed at various times in the year. Personally, although I love to see a huge carp in the net from time to time, the weight of the fish is not the most important factor in carp fishing. For me, the angling environment, the look of the fish and their fighting qualities are at the top of my list. This is reflected in our stocking policy, choosing stunning, strong, young fish which will rapidly grow to a large size, rather than buying over priced large carp and then charging a small fortune to fish for them ! The carp at Les Croix are some of the best looking fish you are likely to see in France with a good number of scaley fish, and they fight like demons ! Obviously you want to be in with a chance of some big fish, and we have a good number of thirties with to over 40lb present. The population of carp is around 150, a total biomass of around 2 tonnes, which provides for excellent sport, and with some stunning specimens in the lake, there is a very good chance of something to remember during your trip. Location If you have never travelled south of the Seine Valley or the Champagne Region of France, then you have not seen the best of what France has to offer.... our lakes are situated in the beautiful Charente-Limousine area of South West France where the departments of Charente, Haute-Vienne and Vienne meet. It is a breathtaking area of rolling countryside, hills, woodland, lakes and rivers that puts Northern France in the shade ! Add to this the fact that the Charente is officially the second sunniest Region of France after the Mediterranean Coast, and you have a very desirable location.
