Jim and Helen Nicholson 4th - 18th April 2024

We arrived with the spring flowers starting to bloom, and the leaves just beginning to appear on the trees, two weeks later everything wass lush and green ! The birds are busy nesting and we have enjoyed observing great tits nesting in one of the urns outside the gite. Les Croix never disappoints and the fishing has been wonderful as always. Changeable spring weather, heavy rain the 26C, then back down to mid teens,, but lots of fish caught, all in great condition, 57 carp in toal, with two mid 50's and lots of 30's and 40's including a good number of beautiful commons.. As always a pleasure to have the company of Jon and Bailey, thanks for your guidance, support and friendship, see you in October !
Ray and Andy Hassall - 18th - 25th April 2024
Our 12th visit to Les Croix and it never disappoints ! A cold snap with morning frosts and cold northerly winds made fishing slow for the first half of the week, but a warmer second half resulted in a total of 18 carp caught to 46lbs. All fought hard and were in superb condition. As always it was a pleasure to chat with Jon and his knowledge of the lake and understanding of the conditions for fishing is invaluable. As always, we look forward to Jon's cooking skills and this time was no different with a varied and appetising menu ! The curries are especially recommended... A lovely time to visit with spring in full bloom, a plentiful array of wildlife, although the frogs were quieter this year....already booked for 2025 can't wait ! Thanks Jon.

We have visited many times, Ben has actually had 10 weeks here and we have been 5 times as a family, this year we were lucky to be spending two weeks here and it has been fantastic...very relaxing and enjoyable. The extra week has meant that we had more time to explore the area but still enjoy plenty of fishing. The carp have really been on the feed and I have easily got through 30kg of boilies and 55kg of pellets, with a grand total of 50 fish caught up to 48-00. My son Beau aged 7 has stepped up to the next level of fishing catching 54 roach, rudd and small carp on the float. My wife Caroline has read 10 books and the dogs have had a great time.
As always thanks to Jon and Bailey thank you very much for another lovely holiday, see you again very soon.

Thanks for a great week. A nice variety of carp caught to 42lbs, lots of small fish on the float for the kids, who also loved meeting Bailey the dog and of course the pool.

An exceptional week in so many respects, the angling, the catches and the weather have all been outstanding. We were helped by the fact that the fish had enjoyed a rest before our arrival, so that on Saturday they were fizzing all over the lake, we were able to catch 4 on this first evening including 2 x 40's ! Once the fish realised they were being fished for they reverted back to their usual locations, but every day there was plenty of action on the rods. The weather was good so we spent plenty of time at the waters edge, with a daily break in the afternoons. As usual the gite was a perfect base and the lake was a delight to fish. JOn was good company and his advice is always welcome and useful.
A great trip - thank you.

Les Croix never disappoints...we have been coming since May 2016 and would not think of going anywhere else to fish. This is a unique venue where the management of the fishery is professional and second to none. As always at this time of year the weather conditions can be challenging and often vary considerably from day to day, this trip we have had warm sunshine on many days but also heavy rain, nonetheless the fishing has been excellent with a fabulous variety of fish caught and including a number of large specimens. Wildlife spotted this trip included goldcrests, red squirrel and a black woodpecker.

During the trip we have caught 87 carp from 6lbs to just under 50lbs, a 50/50 mix of commons and mirrors, this result an indication of the direction of the future of the fishery under Jon's management plans. All fish pristine condition, all the big girls at their top weights, and the smaller carp showing growth rates of up to 8lbs in 12 months !

Looking forward to our spring trip will sustain us through the gloomy winter months ! Thanks to Jon and Bailey for making another trip special !
